Oh wow. An AMAZING plot to bring the Champions together. This is going to be fun!

1. Related to previous Champions stuff from canon
2. Ties into a current plot.
3. Characters are awesome.

An agent of Pluto's, probably some kind of traditionalist necromancer gets hold of one of the Darkhold pages being distributed right now...

Mephisto sends out an agent of his own to possess a mortal.

Said mortal overcomes the demon's will and becomes Ghost Rider. Annoyed at this, the new GR is banished into another dimension.

Anyway, Pluto's agent uses the Darkhold page to create evil duplicates of a number of people, working towards entrapping more souls and general domination, grand schemer that he is.

Meanwhile, in Russia, a young mutant, child of Darkstar, who sounds like she'll be a Magik-style portal opener/dimensional type, so related, but not the same as mom....

Opens a portal, and is surprised to find a flaming skulled guy ride out of it on a motorcycle.

They manage to do some digging, find out about the plan, but the only people they can be absolutely certain aren't evil dupes are those who have, or children of people who have gone to Pluto's realm and escaped.

Unable to gather the original Champions, they sneak into the Christmas parties using DS-kid's powers, and distribute notes to Eliza, Corey, Lyta and Argo asking them to meet them elsewhere.

So the six of them, kids of the original Champions, need to track down Pluto's agent, defeat the duplicates of other heroes guarding him, and destroy the Darkhold page.

-Need to do posts with Pluto and Mephisto (most likely backdated) setting this up.

So a Champions team consisting of a WidowKid, HercKid, IcemanKid, AngelKid and one or two others will be interesting to say the least. They just need a city to work out of. San Fran, New Orleans, or some place else.

I am REALLY impressed with the new characters. Like WOW impressed. A great Rogers kid. A great Worthington kid. (still need that McCoy kid) Another good Worthington kid. And an awesome Valeria Richards. Not to mention a LIKEABLE Rachel Summers. All are very awesome and if I may say, the best I've seen.

Can't wait to see Alpha Flight intimidated by their new leader. :)

Didn't count characters but with the NPC accounts we have 111 (I am guessing over 1000+ characters (250+ gods alone) in the NPC accounts with an astounding 230 of them being original creations.) I would estimate 40+ player characters The best part is that all characters (save for about 4) are active. 90% activity rate on characters which IS FREAKING awesome. I haven't seen an active percentage like that in ANY game.

I am really satisfied with the way things are moving in NG. Plots keep moving and when one ends, another starts and ongoing ones keep moving. The teams are kept busy doing things because that's the whole purpose of the characters being heroes. They go out and DO STUFF. They fight the bad guys, protect people and yet manage to have fun in between crises.

The "Rate a Hunk" thread was a ton of fun and I can wait to see the guys do "Rate a Babe". Looking forward to the really big "Brides of Set" finale. It should be interesting and a challenge to have a fight scene with all of the teams involved. I'm looking forward to some of the plots on deck. Some should be fun and some should be really interesting to see how they play out. I love seeing ethical discussions.

People are keeping characters active. I think out of the 40+ characters we have, maybe three or four are inactive. Those are pretty damn good numbers. We got a few new players who are just adding to the game. Characters in the game are well thought out and interesting. They all have a purpose and aren't just around to get laid.

I don't regret my decision to move, in fact each day and the more I see I'm happier I made it. There's no drama, no temper tantrums or the like; we chat, we have fun and we talk about ideas and things. It's amazing how fun, even being a mod, can be with a great group of players.

I'd like to see DC NG get a little more active. Which means as a mod, it's my job to get it moving. I need to work with the players and come up with some plots. My DC foo is weak, but I can change that.

Exiles is moving along. I need to line the next plot up. The one we're doing now is funny and should continue to be awesome. Seriously. KISS. I've always loved the Exiles idea and I'm glad I started this game.

One thing I do need is one game where I can just play. Not be a mod, not run plots and just relax.

I'm not stressed and pretty damn happy.

Some notes on characters (so I don't lose them)

(I don't really use this lj for anything anymore so I'll use it for RP notes)

Natasha - Happily married (still kind of a shock) and has settled into married life rather well. She's been more open and honest about things because she knows if she isn't the marriage is going to fail. She wants it to last and is working at it. Loves her husband, but he is not the love of her life. She knows that she's not the love of his life, but they love each other enough to want to make it work. She keeps wondering how she got four kids, but she loves them all and the chaos they bring. Adores Tony for being so good about taking the kids in and dealing with them.

Going forward - nothing really planned for her outside of helping Tony with company stuff if he needs it and run herd on her family. She may go back to work part time at some point, but right now she has no plans to. Trying to deny she has thoughts about having another child.

Beliefs - Not very religious, but had been religious at some point in her life. Celebrates the usual holidays, but still clings to the Russian tradition of celebrating New Year's more than Christmas.

Anya - In a rough place at the moment. Temujin keeps coming back to haunt her and it rattles her to the core when he does. She's frustrated and pissed that he still has such an effect on her and she's still kicking herself for being stupid. She really does wish very bad things would just go away after a month and life return to normal and she goes back to being happy, but she knows things don't work like that.

Not happy about not being an Avenger, having no license and being on probation, but the worst is not having access to the labs. However, she does realize that these are the consequences of her actions and has taken responsibility for what she did. She'll get through the punishment and move on after it's done.

Toni is her best friend and there's nothing she wouldn't do for her. Anya does wish she could fix things for Toni in regards to Toni's school. Anya adores Steve and does love him, but not ready to admit it yet.

She's fiercely loyal to friends, family and team. She would do anything for any of them and will always keep it that way.

Going forward - Focusing on school and her boyfriend. Going to try to stay on the right side of things and keep her shit together, even if Temujin shows up. Things are going to get bad for her in "Return of Lady Mandarin" but once that is done, she can move past the Temujin stuff. It's been a year and time to start putting this bad stuff behind her. Yes, it was traumatic and had a huge impact on her, but she can't dwell on it forever.

Beliefs - Anya believes in herself, her family, the company and the Avengers. Not religious at all and doesn't even pay lip service to it. She celebrates New Year's in Russian tradition because that's how she was brought up.

Cait - Cait is content at the moment. She is currently taking classes at a community college and a junior X-Man. She's responsible to the core and keeps an eye on her brother and the younger students at Xavier's. She likes being sort of like a big sister to the team. Not interested in dating or boys at the moment, but focuses more on being a true friend. She tries to get along with everyone, but knows that not everyone is going to like her. She is polite to everyone, even if she doesn't like them.

She loves living in the US and New York. She wants to stay there and go back to Nova Roma only to visit her parents and family. She loves modern conveniences and doesn't want to give them up. She wants to be as independent as possible, but knows when she can't do something on her own and will ask for help when needed.

She loves second hand shops and doesn't get extravagant with things. She's just average and likes it that way.

Going forward - Try to be more of an X-Man and be proactive about things. Work on school stuff and probably get a part-time job, even if it is waiting tables. She doesn't want to be dependent on someone else and she's not going to resort to having a guy support her. She won't make enough to get her own place, she doesn't need to while staying at Xavier's, but she will make enough to be able and go do things on her own and buy things when she needs to. She will eventually graduate from college and might either join the Coast Guard or work on the NYPD water rescue squad.

Beliefs - Cait is a kid of two worlds. The modern western world and Nova Roma. She celebrates the traditional Roman festivals and holidays in addition to the western holidays. Most of these overlap so it makes things easier. She doesn't worship the Roman gods, but she does believe in them.

Alex - Alex is just happy to have a place to live and where he fits in. He doesn't have much hope of regaining his human form, but he does enjoy all the forms he is able to take on. He's grateful for the chance Alpha Flight is giving him and will do anything not to mess things up. He likes his teammates and thinks they make a good team. Totally doesn't want to be the leader and he will support whomever is the team leader.

Being on his own has made him be independent, but he knows there are some things he just cannot do without help. Meal preparation is difficult for him and he is very appreciative to those who prepare food for him.

Going forward - He will work on regaining his human form and being a part of Alpha Flight. In all he doesn't have many ambitions. Income comes from being part of Alpha Flight and is automatically put into an account. He can only purchase things over the Internet and then with some difficulty.

Beliefs - Alex believes in himself and his team. He celebrates Canadian holidays, but is not religious.

Sydney - Is trying to run herd on the Defenders. Thinks she's in way over her head and has thought about quitting on many occasions. Stubbornness and encouragement from Simon keep her there. She does actually like being around the Defenders and is having an interesting time with them. Wishes they wouldn't influence Zoey as much as they do, but she can't help that since six year olds are very impressionable.

Zoey is the center of her life and always will be. Syd has made sacrifices for her daughter and doesn't regret any of the choices she has made. Even the one to have Zoey.

Has a thing for The Rock, Dwayne Johnson, but will not admit it. She loves having The Rock movie marathons when she's alone.

Going forward - She wants to finish getting her college degree and then move on to her masters and eventually her doctorate. Provide the best she can for Zoey. Would like to find a nice guy and build a relationship.

Beliefs - Not religious. Celebrates US holidays.

Zoey - Loves being a Defender (an honorary one) and adores the Defenders. She looks up to all of them, but especially Asleif. Thinks they're the best and the best friends ever. She wants to be like them when she grows up.

Svalin - Tries to be as responsible as much as possible and tries to lead by example. She's the oldest of the siblings and believes she's responsible for them. Does not want to do anything to dishonor her family or Asgard. She is totally dedicated to becoming the best possible warrior she can be. She is harder on herself than she is on others. She will defend her family and her family honor to the last breath.

She is currently training the animals the Defenders have and believes that animals should be useful and earn their keep. She likes Zoey and wants Zoey to be a strong independent woman and warrior.

Has a secret like of Star Trek and Klingons. Loves watching episodes with them in it, mostly from DS9 and TNG. She has also developed an interest in learning as much as she can about Migard battle tactics and strategies.

Going forward - Svalin needs to learn to loosen up a bit and relax. She needs to learn that not everything is about battle and glory.

Beliefs - Svalin believes in her family and her team. She believes there is nothing that can't be overcome. Does not believe she will rule Asgard after her father. Believes it will be one of her brothers.

James - He's my problem child. He's happy being an Avenger and doing things with the team. Loves having a family, especially parents. He thinks his siblings are interesting and insane. he doesn't like school much, but goes because Tasha and Tony want him to go. He loves video games and really doesn't think of much outside of them.

He's still trying to figure this world out and trying not to get teased by his siblings as much.

Going forward - James needs to get out more and discover girls.

Beliefs - Believes in his family, the team and himself. Not religious at all.

Kalypso - Trying to juggle school, a boyfriend and her mother. Loves Jack and loves spending time with him, but still trying to keep her mother from moving her in with him. She loves the relationship they have, but doesn't think it's time to move in with him. They've only been seeing each other for a year and doesn't want to rush things.

She doesn't like school, but as her mother says, there's no harm in learning to do something. Not sure what she wants to do at this point in life, not that she's really in a rush to figure it out since she will live forever.

She wants to get to know her father better now that she finally got to meet him.

Going forward - Find something of her own to do and spend time with Jack.

Beliefs - Believes in herself, her family and Jack

We all know the story. A rocket ship landing in Kansas. A boy whose parents are gunned down in front of him. A mythical baby sculpted from the clay of her mother's queendom. They joined together, with many other heroes, to form one of the world's premiere superhero teams, taking note from a predecessing team. They even spawned younger generations to take up the cape and cowl and fight for justice.

The Justice League weren’t the only costumed heroes saving the world; the Justice Society, the Teen Titans, the Doom Patrol and countless others also fought to protect the innocent.

Time continued to move on. Somehow, our heroes found time to have families when they weren't saving the world. Superhuman parents, for the most part, had superhuman offspring, and metahuman abilities continued to appear in the children of baseline humans. The new generation of heroes and villains has been born, and are beginning to come into their own.

DC - NextGen is a second generation DC Heroes journal RPG. While it deals with the next generation of heroes, the setting is sent in the present (2009). The timeline roughly departs from canon in 1988, though we tend to look at it as a loose guideline. Characters from beyond that point and concepts beyond that point have been used with our current players

We have a strong preference for players who are 18 and over, due to the themes often addressed in this RPG.
